Monster Island is a mockbuster by The Asylum, which was released in 2019 at the same time that Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It's about an island called Monster Island, where a monster lives. In a sense, the monster is Monster Island itself.


This movie is about an asylum and has a budget that's about the same as a large kid's meal. It also uses it (page) sparingly. It focuses on a few human characters and keeps its big names on one set, where they can all film their scenes during lunch break. But let's not forget that this is a kaiju movie, and that's kind of how they go, so maybe The Asylum won't do such a bad job?
